A warm, collaborative relationship leads to the greatest successes. You and I are partners on this healing journey. We blend your superior knowledge of your body and experiences with my expertise in clinical nutrition and functional medicine.
The brain is not separate from the body. What happens in the body also happens in the brain, so mental health is directly related to physical health.
Comprehensive First Session: From the start, you and I become co-detectives, determining how best to help you heal by looking at the evidence. Using what we learn, we target the root causes of poor health by applying research-backed healing methods.
We gather our initial data points a lot of different ways. These vary slightly according to the needs of the incoming client:
Health & social history form.
Includes a 24 hour food recall.
My Symptom Questionnaire.
Wellness Questionnaire.
90 minute live intake session, in person or via telehealth.
Depending on what we find out, I might recommend one or a combination of:
A follow up session to explore more deeply.
A follow up session to map the healing path.
Further lab testing (standard or functional medicine blood tests, stool test, urine test).
Referral to a specialist.
I often coordinate care with other practitioners, such as doctors, therapists, and psychiatrists, to assure that you get the most thorough improvement.
Experimentation with food choices.
At CIN we don't 'diet.' I do not recommend restriction or deprivation. If we remove some foods for a while, it's for both diagnostic and healing reasons.
The goal is always to return to the widest, most varied range of food choices. You'll learn how specific foods make you feel, and that knowledge will inform your choices.
Targeted nutritional therapy using supplements.
Increasing or adopting health-promoting behaviors that are both accessible and manageable.
Follow Up Sessions: As we go forward, you observe and report the changes you feel in your body and with your mood. We use that information, and more testing as indicated, to understand how these tools are serving your healing process.
Nutrition education along the way helps you understand how food and lifestyle behaviors influence your body.
We practice behaviors that build and maintain self-efficacy, stress resilience, quality sleep, and strength and flexibility through joyful movement.
Using the tools of observation and awareness will help you build trust both in your body and in your ability to interpret what it tells you. Maintaining your good health for the long term is our goal.
Healing can take time. Allow that the 'dis-ease' that inspired you to work with me took time to develop. Understanding and addressing the root causes of poor health and the circumstances that maintain them can take from weeks to months.
As a relationship- and evidence-based practitioner, my intent is to help you establish the type of good health that assures that my support is never needed again!
