The Core Food Plan and The Spectrum are examples to highlight how to eat healthful, nutritionally dense foods. The slides above tour you through them. They are good choices, and they are representative of many that you will find working with a nutrition specialist, online, or at the bookstore. As you explore the many options, these can help you identify if the diet is nutrient-dense and has a quality balance of protein, carbs, and fats. Please take into account your individual goals, finances, schedule, etc. as you shape how to move forward. Assure that you have adequate food intake to maintain your energy: the lower calorie options in the Core Food Plan may not be appropriate for you. Always seek the support of a health or nutrition professional if you want to address a health condition nutritionally.
Remember your SMART goals! Begin where you feel you will have success and build on it.
***Eating gluten-free (GF) is highly individual. Some people feel better when they eat grain-free or GF. Others find it makes no difference. (And a small number are diagnosed with Celiac disease, where a reaction to gluten destroys the intestinal lining.) Use this guide if you choose to experiment with how you feel GF. If you do, try it fully for 30 days to be sure your system is clear, then add gluten back in. Make sure to read labels for gluten! If you are not sensitive or allergic, you will see no change in how you feel. Some might feel worse, be GF for several months or longer, and then find that adding some gluten back in no longer creates a reaction. Some will continue to feel better without it. Again, know your own body and what makes it feel well.
